What is the issue addressed?
The problem is the degradation of topsoil worldwide due to unsustainable farming practices, leading to reduced crop yields, loss of minerals, and negative impacts on the environment and human health. In Cameroon, 75% of arable land is degraded, affecting smallholder farmers, especially women. The solution is a regenerative agriculture school and community center that provides hands-on training in regenerative agriculture, agroforestry, and entrepreneurship, empowering marginalized youth and women to build sustainable livelihoods and resilient food systems. The project also aims to restore degraded land and promote ecological balance. The operational model is financially self-sufficient through the sale of organic farm products.
How is the problem solved?
Wandusoa Organic Cameroon runs a regenerative agriculture school with on-campus small-scale enterprises. The 9-month training program combines classroom instruction, demonstrations, and hands-on learning on farms. Students learn regenerative agricultural subjects like agroforestry, permaculture, and beekeeping. The "learning-by-doing and earning" approach equips graduates with practical skills for formal jobs or self-employment. The enterprises produce and sell organic farm products to generate income for the school's expenses and ensure financial sustainability. The project also involves building an ecological learning and community center designed with passive climate design, local materials, and flexible multi-use spaces.
What is the customer target?
25 youth onboarded for our pilot. Backed by REGEN TRUST & The Haller Foundation. $3,500+ raised, Mbankomo site secured, and physical groundbreaking launches this Friday, July 17!
How is this solution different?
The unique approach combines practical regenerative agriculture training with business development skills, focusing on inner capacities like compassion and mindfulness to activate systemic change. It also emphasizes community empowerment, local resource utilization, and a financially self-sufficient model. The integration of architecture with regenerative agriculture principles is also a key differentiator. Our 'Soil to Software' bridge pairs ancestral, low-cost climate adaptation (syntropic agroforestry and local compressed earth construction) with modern open-source tracking tools to reliably measure and scale topsoil carbon sequestration in sub-Saharan Africa.
