¿Qué problema se ha resuelto?
We need to decarbonise electricity to reach net zero, but many grid operators are delaying adding renewable capacity because the unpredictability of the generation makes the grid unstable.
¿Cómo se resuelve?
Quartz Solar uses AI to predict solar generation allowing grid operators to reduce their use of reserve fossil fuel generation and significantly reduce the uncertainty of adding new renewables to the grid. We estimate grid operators can reduce CO2 emissions by up to 50 mln tonnes p.a. globally.
¿Quiénes son los clientes potenciales?
Electricity and transmission network operators. We are working with National Grid ESO in the UK and as a next step want to scale our solution to India. We have already started working with partners on the ground.

- Use of advanced AI models which is a novel approach in energy forecasting;
- Use of satellite imagery and real-time PV generation data;
- Open source ensures transparency, continual evolution and facilitates scale-up to other countries
- The solution we built for National Grid Electricity System Operator (NG-ESO) in the UK and is 3 times more accurate than their previous forecast.
