¿Qué problema se ha resuelto?
problem: a 30 years old overgrazing crisis triggered by increased international demand for (cheap) cashmere that is pushing Mongolian rangelands towards the tipping point of irreversible degradation (150 millions Ha) = loss of biodiversity (flora and fauna) and soil functions including capacity to sequester carbon. The degradation is accelerating over the years, as highlighted in the attached documentation.
¿Cómo se resuelve?
we design value chains for animal fibre products that are based on nature carrying capacities and not the other way around. Our work with communities starts with identifying overgrazing as a cause of rangeland degradation, defining the boundaries of the landscape the community manages it's a paradigm shift in the way the industry approach business.

¿En qué se diferencia esta solución?
We focus on the core of the problem: overproduction of a single commodity (cashmere). We agree science-based destocking programs with local herding communities, and integrate them into our value chain design and financial model. No one else has tried this before.
